Under the direction of the Underwriting Manager, provide accurate and timely review through the underwriting process of credit card applications originated by bankers. This process includes, but is not limited to, underwriting applications for approval and review of application supporting documents. This individual verifies that documentation received by BMO Harris satisfies what was requested. The incumbent will make credit decisions/recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policy & Procedures. Enhance customer relationships by being proactive in reinforcing BMOâ€™s sales culture and providing exceptional customer service.
Review submitted loan documentation in accordance BMO Harris lending policies and procedures
Ensure the documentation obtained satisfies what was requested
Request additional documentation, as needed, based on the review of the loan file
Accurately decision loans up to $50,000
Maintain knowledge of all credit card programs (saleable and portfolio)
Escalate loan transactions that exceed signing authority to the appropriate individual
Effective communication with all areas involved is critical to the accurate and timely review of each loan submitted.
Identify and communicate trends or issues that may have occurred in specific regions or with particular clients.
Answer and direct all incoming phone calls, in a positive and proactive manner, to the department.
Maintain knowledge of Bank policies and regulations.
Understanding of various Regulations governing Payment Accounts lending, including, but not limited to, Reg. Z, Reg. O, Truth in Lending Act, Wisconsin Marital Property Act, Credit CARD Act and US Patriot Act.
Responsible for other duties or special projects as assigned by management.
Knowledge and Skills
Associateâ€™s degree desired
Minimum of 2 years previous underwriting experience.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Proven ability to follow-up on non-resolved projects or issues
Demonstrates strong verbal & written communication skills
Ability to interact with clients and Bankers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
Understanding of underwriting policies and guidelines with a working knowledge of credit bureau reports/reporting.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with little supervision.
Knowledge of TSYS or FDR card platforms, CRT, Microsoft Office applications and 10-keypad.
Be involved in continuing education and development.
