Oversees overall leadership for Underwriting functions including; strategy, Policies & Procedures, Best Practices, Underwriting Audit, CAT management, Reinsurance management, and risk control services.
Develops underwriting strategy and execution. Oversees development, implementation, and maintenance for all underwriting practices at the company and state level. Leads all staff and field underwriting functions, to include authority levels, quality, audit, and risk management policy and procedures.
Oversees Sr. Director Risk Management and ensures practices and services evolve and continue to provide competitive advantage for Private Client segment.
Responsible for portfolio/catastrophe management policies, procedures, and reinsurance treaties in support of the Private Client brand.
In partnership with product management, regional executives, actuarial and other executives ensure all practice areas generate profitability for the organization.
Participates on various industry committees to promote the company and keep the company’s best interest in the fore front. Sponsors or provides oversight for special projects and supports the local community.
Oversees associate management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organization planning, day-to-day management, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions for direct and possibly indirect reports.
Reports to Private Client VP. Direct reports include 4-8 Underwriting associates. Indirect reports totaling 30-50 associates.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education/Certification/Licenses: Bachelor's degree or post graduate studies preferred. CPCU highly desirable.
Experience/Skills: 10 years of Product Management Personal Lines experience. Strategic agility, results orientation, customer focus, effective team building, decision making quality, organizational agility, business acumen.

Overtime Eligibility: Exempt (Not Eligible)
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
