Credit Underwriter Jobs
A credit underwriter job involves analyzing risk for business customers with high account balances; consistently meeting or exceeding underwriting goals and maintaining a high standard of credit portfolio quality. A credit underwriter should demonstrate excellent judgmental credit decisions, perform complete commercial credit risk analysis and implement identified process improvements on an ongoing basis. A credit underwriter reports to the head of credit, performs comprehensive credit analysis and qualitative risk assessments of portfolios, provides credit related support to private bankers such as marketing and structuring loans, as well as recommends credit solutions for clients. A credit underwriter prepares written credit analysis and recommendations for financial institutions, customers and prospects, monitoring compliance with existing loan agreements and overseeing other portfolio management responsibilities for an assigned financial institutions region. A credit underwriter interacts professionally with customers during due diligence, ongoing credit management, clarifying questions on financial statements and proposal development.
A credit underwriter requires a bachelor\'s degree and completion of a major corporate bank credit training program or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience. Minimum 3 years of commercial underwriting/commercial credit, residential underwriting, or business lending experience may be required. A credit underwriter should have significant accounting and finance knowledge and commercial banking experience; demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills, interpersonal skills, and analytical and problem solving ability. A credit underwriter should also have familiarity with financial methods exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.
