Medical Underwriter Jobs
A medical underwriter position may be available with a bank, insurance agency, health benefits firm or any company in finance business. Typical duties of a medical underwriter position include reviewing accident and health quotations and renewals that exceed field underwriting authority, providing advice or guidance to field underwriters and sales personnel, participating in trainings, communicating with management regarding trends in sales and risk exposures, conducting underwriting audits, and performing on home office underwriting projects as assigned. A medical underwriter typically reports to the lead underwriter.
A medical underwriter should have a bachelor's degree or any qualification in insurance or a financial field. Excellent academic credentials are required. Prior experience working as a medical underwriter may be advantageous. Strong knowledge of health benefits and insurance plans is essential for a medical underwriter position. Excellent mathematical ability is required.
