Assistant Underwriter Jobs
An assistant underwriter position may be available with an insurance company, bank, or a financial agency. The specific duties of an assistant underwriter position include processing and underwriting support of the most difficult business policies; establishing contacts by visiting agents with an underwriter; working on assigned lines of business; providing support to members of underwriting department in areas of underwriting operations, and policy formulations; maintaining activity logs and clearing accounts for underwriters' review; computing rates and premiums for policies; compiling appropriate declarations or coverage forms to complete a policy. An assistant underwriter typically reports to an underwriter.
An assistant underwriter should have a bachelor's degree. Excellent academic credentials are required. Prior experience working as an assistant underwriter may be advantageous. Strong mathematical ability is essential for any assistant underwriter position. Familiarity with MS Word and Excel may be required.
